Paediatrics for International Medical Graduates course

A comprehensive two-day online course, delivered by NHS consultants and specialists, that aims to support international medical graduates that are new to paediatrics in the NHS with skills to enable confident management of children and young adults through the use of a wide range of clinical case scenarios and interactive content.

13th & 14th of July 2023, 08:30 – 17:00 (Day 1) and 09:00 – 17:00 (Day 2) – Online

Attendees will be given a Certificate of Participation at the end of the course, which is equivalent to 12 hours of CPD credit.

This is a two-day online course, delivered by NHS consultants and specialists, that aims to support international medical graduates that are new to paediatrics in the NHS with skills to enable confident management of children and young adults through the use of a wide range of clinical case scenarios and interactive content.

We know that starting a job in Paediatrics in the NHS can be daunting for both recent graduates and experienced clinicians who qualified from a foreign medical school. This course aims to equip you with the skills to hit the ground running in your first job working or training in a rotation in paediatrics, neonatology or paediatric emergency medicine.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Justify and discuss the management plan of common paediatric cases that present within NHS acute and emergency care.
  • Interpret common ECGs and ABGs in the context of clinical scenarios and devise a management plan for these patients.
  • Justify the need for accurate fluid management plan.
  • Organize and structure a discussion with a clinical colleague around the care of an acutely ill child or young adult.
  • Justify the need for common diagnostic investigations in paediatrics and how to structure a clinical referral.
  • Summarise the role of effective clinical governance, safeguarding/child protection in NHS paediatric care.
