Dr Olayinka Kowobari

Consultant Neonatologist

Olayinka is a keen Neonatologist with special interests in Haemodynamics and Preterm Outcomes. She is also very passionate about Quality Improvement and Medical Education.

Olayinka is an international medical graduate from Nigeria. Following undergraduate medical training (MB.BS Ib. 2004) and some Postgraduate Paediatric training (set of 2009) at the College of Medicine, University of Ibadan, Olayinka relocated to the UK for family reasons. She proceeded to complete postgraduate paediatric training with a sub-specialisation in Neonatology (Grid) in the UK (CCT 2020). She is a Fellow of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health and holds a Public Health Diploma from the University of Liverpool, a Postgraduate Certificate in Medical Education from the University of Manchester and an NHS Leadership Academy Award in Healthcare Leadership from the NHS Leadership Academy. She is also a Newborn Life Support (NLS) provider and training instructor and an Advanced
Resuscitation of the Newborn Infant (ARNI) provider for the Resuscitation Council UK.

As a Neonatal Consultant with special interest in Neonatal Cardiology/ Haemodynamics, she was lead for local Audit and local Lead for the National Neonatal Audit programme, Undergraduate Tutor at Keele Medical School and a Trainer/ Educational and Clinical Supervisor for the Royal College of Paediatrics
and Child Health. She recently ventured into her special interest in clinical academics, looking at predictors of preterm outcomes. She currently holds a clinical research fellowship sponsored by the UCL-WEISS, Wellcome -LEAP and Tommy’s Charity.

An author, a reviewer and a mentor/coach, Olayinka’s best life is as the wife of an astute Risk Management professional and Businessman and a mother of two exceptional daughters.

She loves great food and soul music and enjoys the company of family.
