Starting a job in Psychiatry in the NHS can be daunting for both recent graduates and experienced clinicians who qualified from a foreign medical school.
This course aims to support you to plug any practice gaps you may have in your first job in Psychiatry – whether working as a junior doctor on an inpatient Psychiatry ward or working alongside other mental health professionals in the community.

- Discuss the criteria for the diagnoses of several common presentations is psychiatry and justify the management plan for these at the level expected of a Foundation Year 2 or Core Psychiatry Trainees Year 1 – EUPD, Self-Harm, Suicidality, Depression, Bipolar disorder, Psychosis.
- Discuss the prescription for a patient with acute alcohol withdrawal.
- Discuss the management of a patient with substance misuse on a psychiatry ward.
- Explain how to complete a Mental State Examination.
- Explain how to complete a Mental Capacity Assessment.
