Consultant in Acute Medicine

Hadiza is an Acute Medicine consultant at the George Eliot Hospital NHS Trust.

She graduated from the University of Ibadan in 2001 as the best student overall. She started working in the NHS in 2007 at the Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Trust as a Senior House Officer. From there, she moved to East Anglia where she worked at Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital in Cardiology and Rehabilitation Medicine. She subsequently completed Core Medical Training in the Northern deanery.

In 2008, she took a break from training and worked as a Clinical teaching fellow as well as started a master’s qualification in Medical Education at the University of Warwick. She returned to start higher specialist training in Acute Internal Medicine in 2012 and obtained CCT in 2017.

Hadiza was the Service Lead for Acute Medicine at her current Trust for two years. She is currently the Clinical Lead for North Warwickshire Hub Covid Medicines Delivery Unit and has recently taken up the role of Deputy Associate Director of Undergraduate Education at the George Eliot Hospital NHS Trust. She has been an examiner for the undergraduate medical exams at Warwick Medical School since 2010.

She is the Directorate of Medicine lead for IMG training at the George Eliot Hospital NHS Trust. She has developed different teaching sessions for IMGs, including the use of simulation to facilitate learning. Hadiza brings her expertise in acute medicine and medical education, as well as a lived experience of training as an IMG in the NHS to the teaching faculty at the Centre for International Medical Graduates.
