This is a FREE comprehensive induction for International Medical Graduates (IMGs) that have come to work and train in the National Health Service (NHS) in the UK.
It is an induction to practice that covers the issues that IMGs may grapple with in the first few months of work. We have co-designed this course with IMGs and experienced medical educators to ensure that the learning needs of IMGs are met. The content is designed to supplement and enhance generic local induction organised by NHS Trusts for new doctors.
Some of the subjects cover the organisational structure of the NHS, information about postgraduate training, careers for locally employed & SAS doctors, and Pay & Pensions. Some topics are about the issues outside work (like childcare, schooling, mortgages) that affect how IMGs adapt in a new country and which may impact their well-being and that of their family. The programme of topics is listed below.
