7th ECG interpretation course

Attendees will be given a Certificate of Participation at the end of the course, which is equivalent to 4 hours of CPD credit.

This course is relevant to any doctor that wishes to brush up on their ECG interpretation skills. Historically, there is a good mix of IMGs and UK graduates (both recent graduates and experienced clinicians) on this course.

The aim of the course is to expose you to wide range of ECGs in the context of the clinical scenarios in which you will encounter them whilst working in NHS Acute Hospitals and Mental Health Trusts.

In the week before the course, you will receive a workbook with several ECGs that are similar those you will come across often in practice. We encourage you to attempt to interpret these on your own with no support. On the course, the tutor will support you to develop on this and highlight key management aspects, recognise areas for improvement and reinforce simple and straightforward steps to employ when interpreting ECGs in a way that builds your confidence.

Sinus tachycardia

Acute Coronary Syndrome

Pericarditis & Myocarditis

Atrial Fibrillation & Atrial Flutter

Supraventricular tachycardia

Left and right ventricular hypertrophy

Bundle Branch Block

Heart blocks

Ventricular tachycardia

Electrolyte abnormalities

Digoxin toxicity

Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome

Learning Outcomes:

• Interpret routine ECGs using a structured approach

• Interpret ECGs in high-frequency acute and emergency care patients in the context of clinical scenarios.

• Justify the management of patients with abnormal ECGs in the context of the clinical presentation.

• Organize and structure the conversation with a clinical colleague when discussing a challenging ECG.
