Sam Morris

Clinical Pharmacist

Hello there! My name is Sam Morris, and I am a passionate pharmacist with a background in community pharmacy based in the picturesque county of Somerset, where I reside with my young family. For nearly eight years, I have had the privilege of serving as a Medicines Manager with NHS Somerset. In this role, I lead on family and sexual health and mental health while supporting 20 local practices to ensure prescribing is safe, evidence-based, and cost-effective.

I have always been deeply committed to professional development. In 2021, I completed a Postgraduate Certificate in Clinical Pharmacy Practice for Primary Care at the University of Bath. I qualified as an Independent Prescriber through the University of Plymouth the following year. One area of particular interest to me is safe prescribing during pregnancy and breastfeeding. I am especially proud that my team recently received the PrescQIPP Silver Award at the 2024 Patient Safety Awards for our Safer Prescribing in Pregnancy Quality Improvement Project – an achievement that underscores our commitment to patient safety.

In addition to my work with the NHS, I volunteer weekly with the Breastfeeding Network’s Drugs in Breastmilk service. Through this initiative, I provide vital information to families, healthcare professionals, and supporters on the safe use of medications during lactation. Furthermore, as a clinical supervisor within the team, I help develop new resources and provide guidance and support to colleagues.

Equity and inclusion are values I hold dear, and I am dedicated to creating safe and supportive environments for colleagues, friends, and service users alike. I actively seek opportunities to learn, grow, and improve my practice, always striving to make a meaningful impact.

I look forward to sharing my experiences with you and engaging in thought-provoking conversations about enhancing patient safety and care.
